My
"love afffair" with the art world began with my first box of crayons and
has continued with few stops for some 60 plus years.
After painting portraits and landscapes in oil, at age 40 I jumped
head long into traditional
printmaking with all of its disciplines. The study of lithography,
serigraphy, etching and woodcut led me to the creative, open-ended exploration
of the collograph and monotype mediums. I absolutely "wallowed" in
all of the possibilities offered.
Encaustic
painting soon became a continuation of my fascination with color and texture.
Then my focus shifted to an emphasis on collage materials to create "new
look" paper pieces.
Every medium that I embraceoffers the possibility of discovery that
"fuels the fires" of creative energy that we, artists seek.
The
passion that drives us all, is the hope that we will get better, not older.
True
creativity is elusive. It leads us on with the promise of immortality.
If we are very, very good, we will be remembered. That is enough.
