Janet Van Arsdale has been a photographer for over thirty years.  The subject matter of her beautiful images varies greatly, as the course of her life has carried her to many exotic places, such as Africa, South America, and Europe.  However, a true reflection of her quality as an artist is her ability to make even ordinary subjects emit the same sense of exotic and unusual beauty as those of far away places. 

Van Arsdale specializes in florals, landscapes, still lifes, nautical objects, oceanic scenes, garden scenes, unique architectural structures and much more.  Often based in the simple beauty of nature, her images tend to exist in a space and time all their own, as transcendent glimpses of ever-changing life.  Janet Van Arsdale freezes a special moment in time; a drop of rain on a rose petal, a waterfall, an autumn colored tree; and makes it immortal.

Her photographs can be altered using various manipulative techniques and different types of paper.  The effects that can be used, such as black and white photography, sepia colored photography, watercolor and oil painting effects and hand coloring photographs, etc., can change the entire tone of the original photograph.  The same is true in the choice of paper.
