Elements of Japan
This piece was commissioned by a client for her home.  After spending many years in Japan, she requested art reflecting her memories of that part of the world.The artist included the sea, mountains, cherry blossoms, a pagoda, a stone lantern, the Miyajima Torii, plum blossoms, the sun, rice and maple leaves.  The swan represents 1000 years of life.  The chrysanthemum is the symbol of Japanese royalty.  Legend says that a giant carp sleeps under the Japanese islands.  When he flicks his tail it creates an earthquake.
