 Frank
Riggs was born and raised in and around New York City. He studied at Pratt
Institute, New York and worked as a furniture designer for many years before
devoting himself to sculpture. He moved out West where his work has been
greatly influenced by the mountains and rock formations where he lives. 
"I find these natural forms can be broken down into simple geometric shapes. I see the interaction of circles, triangles, rectangles and squares in full dimensions. To me they are beautiful in their simplicity. I use color to unify the various shapes and give more intensity to the sculpture. Aluminum plate avoids the rust problems of steel." Frank Riggs has work throughout the United States, and pieces in Japan and Sweden. His work has been purchased by all three major Art Museums in Utah. He has won numerous sculpture awards at a number of museum shows. 
His work includes pieces ranging from pedestal size to the large 28' fountain piece at the Salt Lake International Airport. many of his pieces have been specifically designed for site requirements, whether exterior or interior. |
