We all have preconceived ideas of an unseen locale and usually those
ideas
are a romanticized and enchanted version of what we have dreamed or pictured.
Often when one arrives at the actual location, he or she finds that modernization
and commercialization has destroyed the fantasy of the scene.
I
try to look for the essence of the landscape, cityscape, etc., and bring
back the magic that was once there. I want the viewer to experience
that enchantment with me. I desire my paintings to transcend time
and space. It is like reliving an emotional memory or conjuring up
a magical dream. I need my art to be both unique to my vision as
well as universal to the viewer.
